Student Apartment Scout (Makepe / Bonamoussadi, Douala)
Role: Field Scout & Executive Associate (Apartment Search + Light Project Support)
Duration: 3 – 7 days (initial), with possibility of continued collaboration in other areas
Compensation: 3,000 – 5,000 FCFA per field day + performance bonus (10,000 FCFA if final apartment is secured)
→ May add small transport allowance of 500 – 1,000 FCFA
1. Mission of the Role
Support a long-term apartment search in Bonamoussadi and Makepe by conducting street-level scouting,
identifying owner-managed apartments, and verifying water reliability, drainage quality, noise levels, and safety.
The scout also assists with light organizational tasks related to community engagement and youth training initiatives.
2. Key Responsibilities
2.1. Field Scouting (Core Task)
• Walk assigned micro-zones in Bonamoussadi/Makepe for 2–4 hours/day
• Identify buildings with "À LOUER" signs
• Speak directly with owners or caretakers (concierges) – never agents
• Collect accurate details:
✓ Rent price
✓ Apartment type (studio, 1-bedroom, 2-bedroom)
✓ Water situation (forage, tank, surpresseur, frequency of cuts)
✓ Drainage quality (risk of flooding, gutter presence)
✓ Noise level (bars, churches, workshops, traffic)
✓ Power stability
✓ Owner’s rules and expectations
• Take clear photos of:
✓ Building exterior
✓ Street and drainage
✓ Courtyard/compound
✓ “À LOUER” sign with phone number
• Send structured daily reports via SMS or Facebook Messenger (no WhatsApp)
2.2. Communication & Coordination
• Maintain respectful, professional interactions with caretakers and owners
• Schedule visits for the supervisor (the tenant)
• Keep a clean log of all contacts and findings
2.3. Optional Project Support (if capable)
• Assist with organizing a small community presentation in Bonamoussadi
• Help with basic tasks related to youth entrepreneurship, analytics, or media training
• Support email-based outreach (no WhatsApp)
3. Required Profile
Student at University of Douala, IUG, or similar institution
Street-smart, confident speaking to caretakers and owners
Honest, disciplined, and reliable
Not connected to real estate agents
Interested in analytics, media, entrepreneurship, or community development
Able to walk long distances and work independently

4. Compensation Structure
Daily field rate: 3,000–5,000 FCFA
Transport: 500–1,000 FCFA/day
Performance bonus: 10,000 FCFA if the final apartment is secured
Payment frequency: Every 2–3 days or end of assignment (your choice)
